TRAVELER AND PUBLIC QUESTIONS

(*The answers below are what will be available as more establishments are added
and are currently in the initial pilot portion of business.)

Q: How do I know if a hotel is Own Your Sleep™ Certified?
A: Certified properties will display the Own Your Sleep™ Certified Network Seal on their website, booking pages, and in-room materials. You can also search directly through our Traveler Network, where we list verified hotels and resorts that meet our certification standards.

Q: What makes an Own Your Sleep™ Certified room different from a regular hotel room?
A: These rooms feature adjustable beds, comfort kits, and a thoughtful setup designed for better rest, accessibility, and wellness. It’s not about looking “medical”, it’s about giving you more ways to relax, recover, and feel comfortable while you travel.

Q: Can I request a Comfort Kit if I’m not staying in a certified room?
A: Yes, they can be requested and purchased separately to have delivered to your hotel or your personal address. Eventually, some hotels will stock Comfort Kits at the front desk or offer them as add-ons when booking. If you’re staying at an OYS Certified property, check availability with the hotel directly, we work with them to make sure guests have options.

Q: What’s inside a Comfort Kit?
A: Each kit has customized options which include items designed to reduce stress and improve sleep. A few examples are eye masks, earplugs, lavender sachets, hydration aids, and more. Premium and specialized kits (for families, neurodiverse travelers, or those with swallowing/mobility needs) may also be available to order.
Q:What if I have an item needed for a kit but it is not listed on the options?
A: OYS Comfort Kits can be completely individualized if the request is received in enough time and will include special pricing.

Q: Do I need a medical condition to book an OYS Certified room?
A: Not at all. Adjustable-bed rooms are perfect for anyone who wants a better sleep experience. It can be for wellness travelers, athletes, caregivers, older adults, or simply guests who want the option of elevating their rest.

Q: What if I travel with special needs (like dysphagia, arthritis, or an autistic child)?
A: Individualized kits can be ordered directly through OYS and soon, many OYS Certified hotels will stock Specialized Comfort Kits for these situations. We’re actively expanding this program so you can request the kit that supports your specific needs through OYS.

Q: How do I join the Own Your Sleep™ Traveler Network?
A: Simply sign up on our website. You’ll receive updates when new hotels are certified, plus tips on wellness travel and early access to Comfort Kit news. Members that join during this this inaugural time period will receive a free membership and will be grandfathered in once memberships become more advanced and eventually cost a fee.

Q: Why should I trust Own Your Sleep™?
A: OYS was founded by a world-wide advocate who has spent years making sure patients and travelers are seen, safe, and supported and who has also personally dealt with restrictions in traveling due to medical condition. Our certification isn’t a gimmick, it’s a standard of care, comfort, and inclusivity that’s recognized by hotels, caregivers, and wellness leaders.

TRAVELER AND PUBLIC QUESTIONS
HOTEL/FACILITY QUESTIONS

Q: Does adding adjustable beds make a hotel feel “medical”?
A: No. Our approach is intentionally designed to be subtle and seamless. Adjustable beds are styled to match your existing aesthetic, they don’t feel clinical or intrusive. This is about modern comfort, not medical appearance.

Q: How many rooms should we consider outfitting?
A: You don’t need to retrofit your entire property. We recommend starting with a single pilot room, especially near ADA-accessible suites or wellness floors. You’ll serve an important guest demographic while testing market demand safely and affordably.
Q: What kinds of guests would book these rooms?
A: Far more than you may realize. Guests recovering from surgery, living with conditions like GERD, dysphagia, arthritis, or sleep apnea, older travelers, disabled guests, paralytic guests, caregivers, and families visiting medical centers, all benefit from this offering, as well as those looking for a more comfortable stay.
Q: Will this create more work for my staff?
A: Not at all. Adjustable beds are user-friendly and come with clear remote controls or built-in presets. We provide simple training materials, but most guests manage them independently—especially those who already use them at home. The OYS Custom Kits are provided by Own Your Sleep™ and would merely need to be handed to the guest or placed in their room.
Q: What’s the marketing benefit of adding adjustable beds?
A: Offering adjustable-bed rooms positions your property as compassionate, comfort-driven, and forward-thinking. You’ll earn loyalty from guests who often feel excluded, and capture new bookings from a growing segment of wellness-focused and medically-aware travelers.
Q: Can individual travelers contact you to help them find a hotel with these beds?
A: Yes. The Own Your Sleep™ Certified Network also supports travelers directly by identifying and referring them to partner hotels that offer adjustable-bed rooms. It’s a win-win: your hotel stands out, and guests feel seen and supported.
